The Erta Ale volcano has been in a constant state of eruption and registerd as one of the few lava lakes of our planet. Once arrived at the top you will descend into the caldera and proceed to the crater’s edge and be part of the few people who have see with there own eyes the Erta Ale lava lake who came back afer 5 years of pause at the end of last year in December. We stay about 2-3 hours admiring the activities, lava fountains, edge collapse if there are… The we go back to our base camp. Once again in early morning we do the same to see the contrast in the day time staying about 2 hours and we end our visit of Erta Ale.)
Drive back to Afdera on the way back, it is a wonderfully bright green lake surrounded with black basalt mountains behind.
